01The problem

## Your customers are searching. Can they find you, and can they trust what they find?

Search stopped happening in one place. Before anyone calls you, they compare Google results, Maps listings, your website, your reviews, and increasingly an AI generated answer that recommends somebody. When those signals are thin or inconsistent, the lead quietly goes elsewhere and you never learn it existed.

Not ranking for the services that actually pay

Missing from Google Maps when someone nearby is ready to call

A website that looks dated, loads slowly, or does not ask for the business

Competitors turning up in AI answers while you do not

Marketing reports full of numbers that never connect to a lead

02What we do

## One visibility system, five ways to grow

Google, Maps, AI answers, and your website are not four separate problems. They read the same facts about your business. Get those right once and all four improve together, which is why most engagements combine two or three of these rather than one.

03The actual work

## What each one actually involves.

Five services, and one thing that is not a search surface at all. Read the work rather than the promise, so you can tell which two or three you need and which you can leave alone this year.

01Google results

### SEO

Most sites that feel invisible are not invisible. They are ranking at position 20 with a title that gives nobody a reason to click, which looks identical from the inside and is a completely different problem to fix.

- A Search Console read of every query you already appear for, and which ones sit close enough to win
- Titles and descriptions rewritten around what you can actually prove, not what ranks in theory
- An audit of every claim on the site, because unverifiable claims are a liability before they are a ranking problem
- Pages for the services you sell, cut down rather than added to where two pages compete
- Content run as a program with a calendar and a retirement list, not a stream of posts nobody measures

Positions 11 to 30 are where impressions go to die. Ranking was never the constraint here, the titles were.

02Editorial and publishing

### Content SEO

The deepest thing I do, and the one most often sold as a volume of posts. Publishing is the easy half. Deciding what not to publish, and being willing to delete what is already there, is the half that compounds, and it is the half nobody wants to pay for.

- An inventory of every page you have, with a keep, merge, or retire verdict on each and the reason stated
- A calendar you can actually staff, built around what you know rather than what ranks
- Briefs specific enough that a writer who is not you can produce something you would sign
- A retirement rule, so the library does not quietly compete with itself in three years

### Local search

Your Maps ranking is not one number. It changes street by street, so the honest question is not whether you rank, it is where you stop ranking and whether that is somewhere you care about.

- Measured reach across your real service area, so you can see the edge rather than guess at it
- Google Business Profile categories, services, and hours corrected against what you actually do
- Citation and name, address, phone conflicts found and resolved at the source
- A review habit you can actually keep, rather than a campaign that runs once

04Assistants and overviews

### AI search visibility

Assistants already answer questions about your industry, and they are already naming somebody. Nobody can guarantee they name you, and anyone who does is guessing. What you can do is make sure your facts are the easiest ones to find and the hardest ones to contradict.

- A fixed prompt set run against the assistants your buyers use, with the answers recorded verbatim
- Every place your own facts disagree with each other across the site, your profile, and directories
- Content restructured so a machine can lift a clean answer out of it without paraphrasing you badly
- A rerun on the same prompts later, so the change is measured rather than asserted

For medical and automotive work, look for USP Class VI materials, PPAP documentation, and Cpk of 1.33 or better. Shops publishing those specifics, rather than certification logos, are the ones you can actually verify.

The answer rewards whoever published the specifics. That is the whole job, and it is not a ranking trick.

05Pages and proof

### Web design

A rebuild is the most expensive answer to most website problems, and it is often the wrong one. Three things decide whether a visitor becomes a customer: speed on a phone, clarity in five seconds, and one obvious next step. Sometimes none of those needs a new site.

- Core Web Vitals measured on a real phone on a real connection, not a desktop score
- A straight answer on whether a rebuild is warranted, including when it is not
- Pages built around the one action you want, rather than a menu of eleven
- A site you can edit yourself afterwards, on a platform you own

Measured on this site, on a phone. If yours already reads like this, the problem is somewhere else and we will say so.

06Not a search surface

### AI automation

This one does not belong with the other five and it would be dishonest to pretend it does. The others get you found. This one handles what happens next, when a lead arrives at nine at night and sits in an inbox until Thursday.

- Inbound leads captured, enriched, and routed to the right person automatically
- Quote and intake steps that currently live in somebody's head, written down and run reliably
- The repetitive part of your day named out loud before anything is built, because some of it should not be
- Something you can turn off, on tools you already pay for, with no new platform to learn

05How it works

## Find the gap. Fix the foundation. Build authority. Measure demand.

01

### Diagnose

A technical, local, content, competitor, conversion, and AI visibility baseline. We find out what is actually costing you, not what is easiest to sell you.

02

### Prioritize

A sequenced roadmap ordered by business value, attainability, and effort. You will know why each item is where it is.

03

### Build

Pages, technical fixes, Google Business Profile improvements, content, structured data, and the conversion paths that turn visits into conversations.

04

### Measure

Rankings, Maps coverage, qualified traffic, AI citations, forms, calls, booked meetings, and revenue signals where the data exists.

06Where we work

## Boise based strategy for Treasure Valley businesses

Big Brain Digital works with businesses in Boise and across the Treasure Valley, including Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Kuna, and Caldwell. Being local helps, but local search performance comes from stronger relevance, trustworthy business information, useful content, real reviews, and a website that makes the next step obvious.

07Enterprise scale

## Six years running global content operations across 18 markets.

Editorial strategy, search, and content operations for a global blog program, in house at a Fortune 100 technology company. Alongside that, measuring AI visibility across 25 countries and tens of thousands of prompts.

Read this before the credential does its work on you

That is in house employment history, not a client list. I am not going to name the company, because promoting my own practice on their name would be the wrong thing to do while I work there. I am also not going to publish that program’s traffic or revenue figures, because they are not mine to publish. Ask me on a call and I will tell you where I work.

Which leaves the only part that is actually useful to you, and the part most people skip: what six years at that scale teaches, and the larger amount it does not.

What transfers

Deciding what a win is before you start

At scale you cannot argue about the definition afterwards, because too many people are watching. So you agree the metric, the period, and the attribution scope on day one. Almost no small engagement does this, and it is the single cheapest thing to fix.

Instrumenting before changing anything

Enterprise work is measured whether you like it or not, so you learn to take a clean baseline first. That habit is why the case study on this site opens with a before reading and leaves the after section honest.

Running content as a program, not a stream of posts

Six years of an editorial calendar teaches you that the recurring failure is not too little content, it is two pages competing for the same search and nobody willing to delete either. Publishing is the easy half. Deciding what not to publish, and what to retire, is the half that compounds.

What does not

Governance and stakeholder process

Approval chains exist because forty people can break a site. You are not forty people, and importing that overhead would just be billable.

Templated pages at volume

Producing hundreds of near identical pages works when you have hundreds of genuinely different markets. Applied to one city it reads as spam, to readers and to Google.

Enterprise tooling and its price

The platforms that make sense across tens of thousands of URLs cost more per year than your entire marketing budget. Search Console and a spreadsheet answer most questions you actually have.

The timelines

A large organization can wait four quarters for a content program to compound. You need something to move this quarter, which changes what gets done first.

If you are the one running search at a large organization rather than a Boise owner, the enterprise conversation is a different one and I am happy to have it. [Say so in your first message](/contact/) and we will skip the small business framing entirely.

08The writing

## Read the thinking before you buy any of it.

Five pieces so far, which is not many. Each one answers a question a Boise owner actually asked, and says plainly where the honest answer is that it depends, or that you cannot.

09Questions

## What people ask before they call.

Including the price, because you should not have to book a call to find out whether you can afford this.

What does it cost?Start with the Search Visibility Diagnostic, which is 950 to 1,750 dollars depending on the size of your site, delivered in two weeks, and credited toward a qualifying engagement if you go ahead. You keep the findings either way. Ongoing work is scoped per engagement rather than sold as a fixed package, because a business with six pages and a business with six hundred need different things and pretending otherwise would mean overcharging one of you. It is paid work precisely so it can tell you things a free audit will not, including that you do not need me.

How long before anything moves?Title and description rewrites on pages that already rank can move within weeks, because the ranking is already there and only the reason to click is missing. Google Business Profile corrections show up in Maps in days. Newly built pages typically need four to six months to compete, and anyone promising faster than that is guessing. AI answers are the least predictable of them, since the assistants update on their own schedule and nobody outside those companies knows it.

Do I need all of this? No, and most clients do not. Most engagements are two or three of the five, and the diagnostic exists to tell you which. If your site is already fast and clear, web design is not your problem. If you serve one neighborhood, the Maps work matters more than anything else on the list. The most common honest answer is that two of the five are worth your money this year and the rest can wait.

Who actually does the work?Chris does. There is no account manager, no handoff to a junior, and no agency layer between you and the person making the decisions. That is the whole pitch, and it is also the limit: one person means a small number of clients at a time, and if the calendar is full I will tell you that rather than take the work and stretch it.

What do you not do?Video production, and anything that needs a team on site. Both come up often enough to be worth saying plainly, and in both cases you are better served by someone who does that work every day. Ask and I will point you at people in Boise who do, with no arrangement on my end either way.

Is search still worth it now that AI answers questions directly? The honest answer is that it is worth it for a different reason than it used to be. Fewer people will click through from a search page, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. But the assistants build their answers out of the same things Google reads, so the work that earns a ranking is now also the work that earns a citation. What changes is what you measure. Sessions matter less, and being named in the answer matters more.
