Local SEO and Google Maps

Show up when Boise customers are ready to call

Map pack visibility is not luck and it is not only proximity. It is relevance, consistent business information, review depth, and a site that backs up what your profile claims.

01The short version

Be the obvious local answer

We make your business the obvious local answer. That means a Google Business Profile that is complete and correctly categorized, business information that matches everywhere it appears, a steady flow of honest reviews, local pages that deserve to rank, and measurement that shows calls and direction requests, not just impressions.

03Why AI matters here too

Consistent business facts now feed more than Maps

AI assistants asked to recommend a local provider lean on the same signals that support local search: consistent name, address, and service information, corroborating third party mentions, and reviews that describe real outcomes. Cleaning up your local footprint improves both at once.

What we cannot promise

We cannot promise an assistant will name you, and nobody honestly can. There is no ranking dial to turn and no vendor with a back channel. What we can do is make you the easiest business in your category to describe accurately, which is the only lever that exists. If someone tells you they can guarantee an AI recommendation, that is the moment to stop the meeting.

04Measurement

Measurement that reflects how local search actually works

A single ranking number is meaningless in Maps, because results change block by block. We measure with a geographic grid across your service area so you can see where you are strong, where you disappear, and whether that is changing. The grid in the hero above is the shape of that report.

05Recent work

Launching a new division into local search.

A specialist division starts with no local presence at all. No reviews, no citations, no history, and in this case a service area crossing two states.

True North Equine Land and Ranch

Idaho and Eastern Oregon
The search problem

Ranch, land, and equestrian buyers do not search the way residential buyers do. They search by acreage, by water rights, by county, and by property type, and they search across a region rather than a neighborhood.

The service area runs from Weiser and Payette across the state line into Ontario, Vale, Nyssa, and out through Baker and Malheur counties. That is eight named markets and two states from a single office.

What we did
  • Category pages for horse, ranch, farm, and land, so each property type has a page that can rank on its own terms
  • Service area content naming all eight markets, written for buyers rather than for a keyword list
  • Google Business Profile built out for the new division, with categories and service areas set correctly from the start
  • Agent bio rewritten so a buyer and a search engine both learn the same facts
  • An llms.txt file published, so AI assistants can read the site structure directly
The honest limit

A two state rural service area cannot be won through Google Business Profile alone. The map pack rewards proximity, and proximity is the one thing you cannot manufacture. No amount of profile work puts a Weiser office into the Baker County map pack.

So the map pack stays anchored where the office is, and the reach across the rest of the region comes from category and service area pages that can rank without a physical address behind them. That is the honest division of labor, and it is worth knowing before you pay for local search across a wide area.

07Questions

Questions we get asked

How much should I pay for local SEO?

Local Search and Maps Growth starts at 1,250 dollars per month, typically 1,250 to 2,750. The Local Visibility Foundation package for a single location business starts at 1,500. Below roughly 1,000 a month nobody is doing the citation and review work by hand, which is where the results come from.

How do I improve my Google Maps ranking?

Relevance, distance, and prominence. You cannot change distance. You can change relevance through correct categories, services, and a site that backs up the profile, and prominence through reviews, citations, and real mentions elsewhere.

What is Google Business Profile optimization?

Primary and secondary category review, services and products, photos, posts, and the Q and A section, plus keeping the information identical to everywhere else it appears. It is unglamorous and it is the highest return hour in local search.

Does SEO work differently for a service area business?

Yes. You hide the address, define the service area, and the proximity signal works against you at the edges. That makes relevance and prominence matter more, and it makes rank grid measurement essential rather than optional.

How important are reviews, really?

On a service business with no reviews, they are the single heaviest drag on Maps visibility, and no amount of on page work substitutes for them. Volume, recency, and whether the text describes a real outcome all matter. We build the workflow, you cannot buy the reviews.

Can local SEO help AI assistants recommend my company?

It helps, and it is not a guarantee. Assistants lean on consistent business facts, third party corroboration, and reviews that describe outcomes. Those are the same things local search rewards, so the work pays twice.
